Cloth Diapering

Thinking of trying out cloth diapering.
I met with a lady on Friday who showed me samples of different brands/styles and explained benefits (cost and environmental) and cleaning instructions. It really interests me. The initial start up cost is bigger but in the long-run, it would be so much cheaper. I'm not sure yet if Kellen's school will go for it. I have some good information and it shouldn't be any more work for them (except throwing them in a bag I provide instead of in a trash can) but I'll address it at some point. Maybe I'll try it at night and over weekends first.

Hi, Sarah! It's been a while. Would you believe my daughter is NINE?!?!

Anyway, I used cloth diapers on her at home., disposables when we went out. They're great. I think they're part of the reason she potty-trained herself virtually overnight at 18 months.

Check out my blog, http://thesanockifamily.blogspot.com/

It's pretty dull so far, but when school starts life gets more interesting.

Girl I think you are crazy for trying that. You gotta clean those dirty things you know. :) Just reminding you of that. My girlfriend Judy used them on her child and she like them as well. Good luck let me know how it turns out...

OK I have read up on it and it does sound very intreasting. I think it could be very cool to use the new cloth diapers. Since you dont have to really "clean" the cloth diapers like our mom's had to. If you can pull it off, I might try it one day when I have children....

You are my inspiration....

Good look with this! Everyone I know that has tried cloth diapers has given up in about two weeks. Not only is it a big yuck factor, but they get an awful diaper rash!

Plus, I read that its actually better for the environment to use disposable diapers because they biodegrade fairly quickly, and you aren't putting all that detergent into the water system.

Side note: my sister is craszy- Lemuel was NOT potty-trained at 18 months - more like 3 years - and I think they only used the cloth diapers about three times. Oh - and I'm not knocking the 3 years thing for potty training b/c it's looking like Joseph will be about 12 before he gets the hang of it!

Oh, and I totally made up that part about the environment. But I wanted to give you something that might make you feel better :)
